We study the endocannabinoid system and the effect of active principles from the Cannabis sp. plant in pathophysiological processes involving the central nervous system.

We use the synaptic terminal and the nuclear fraction of rat cerebral cortex, and the bovine retina photoreceptor cell as central nervous system models. We study neurodegeneration in models of aging, beta-amyloid peptide-induced damage, and prolonged exposure to light.
