LABORATORY OF VIRAL BIOTECHNOLOGY
Research lines
Our research is focused on the development, characterisation and dissemination of biotechnological tools for the control of diseases, both viral and non-viral etiology, to the scientific and technological community.
In our Vectors for the transfer of genes of interest line, we develop plasmid or viral vectors for the overexpression or silencing of relevant genes for any application, which may be therapeutic (gene therapy), immunogenic (vectored vaccines) or for the generation of disease models.
In the Viral Infection Control line, we are working on therapeutic nanoantibodies (VHHs) against influenza A H1N1 viruses, which have already been finely characterised. In the H1N1 VHHs project, we are characterising the efficacy and stability of novel nebulizable formulations using virus-specific antibody recognition techniques.
