LABORATORY OF NEUROBIOLOGY OF LIPIDS AND OXIDATIVE STRESS
Research lines
Our laboratory works on two complementary lines of research:
- We study the biological and biochemical processes that occur in neurons as they lose their identity and die. Specifically, we study the role of lipid metabolism and oxidative stress in neurodegenerative processes associated with Parkinson’s disease, neurodegeneration caused by iron accumulation and age-related macular degeneration. Research line led by Dr Gabriela Salvador.
- We are looking for new therapeutic tools based on natural products to intervene in these processes that lead to neurodegeneration. Research line headed by Dr Natalia Alza.
